Sandra L. DuBois, age 75, of Weidman, Michigan, passed away early Thursday morning, December 22, 2016, at her home. Sandra was born on October 25, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Leona L. Abram Kudla, Sr.
She married Billy Lee DuBois on November 23, 1968 in Wayne, Michigan. Billy Lee preceded her in death on December 11, 1993. Sandra lived in the Weidman area since 1984. She had one of those friendly voices, loved to read and work of the computer especially facebook.
Sandy had several special achievements and recognition for a double amputee that include, working as a 1st Lt. in the Civil Air Patrol from 1975-1979, was in a bowling league in 1982, was the first child to walk on double suction cup prostheses in 1947 for the WWII veterans who lost their legs. With her success she gave new hope to war veterans who lost their legs during the war. Sandy coached and was manager of softball teams in 1981 for mix little league teams. She was a counselor for the Boy Scouts from 1974-1975, a Headstart volunteer in 1970 and was secretary and recording officer in the Quick Helpers CB Club of Roumulus in 1978. Sandy was a mentor for adults with mental handicaps in basic living skills in a sheltered workshop.
Sandra is survived by her children, Timothy and Rebecca Kudla of Jacksonville, Florida, DeAnn and Brian Deno of Kuna, Idaho, and Ilene Thaller of Weidman; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; a brother, Frank and Gay Kudla, Jr. of Tennessee; and two sisters, Patricia Cogut of Limo, Ohio and Kathleen M. Bunyak of New Boston, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister.
Memorial services for Sandra will be announced at a later date with burial in Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant.
